The 2024 vintage
A year of rain, from winter well into summer. Spring frost struck unevenly, heavy rain fell at flowering, and a cool, wet June and July kept downy mildew pressure high. August turned warmer and drier and let ripening advance; a cool September favoured the final stage of maturation, and picking began around the middle of the month. Yields fell to between a third and a half of normal. The wines are classical and precise: more moderate in alcohol than recent warm vintages, with fresh fruit and fine acidity; in Chardonnay, tension, minerality and freshness.
