Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais; fourteen months in barrel, on fine lees. 295 bottles.

The 2024 vintage

A year of rain, from winter well into summer. Spring frost struck unevenly, heavy rain fell at flowering, and a cool, wet June and July kept downy mildew pressure high. August turned warmer and drier and let ripening advance; a cool September favoured the last stage of maturation, and picking began around the middle of the month. Yields fell to between a third and a half of normal. The wines are classical and precise — moderate alcohol, fresh fruit, fine acidity — and in Chardonnay, tension, minerality and freshness.

Chardonnay, on fine lees

Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais, brought together for a balanced expression of Burgundy. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is racked off its gross lees; a measured share of fine lees is then returned to it, and it ages fourteen months in barrel. The fine lees guard against oxidation and keep the setting gently reductive. Bâtonnage is generally avoided, unless the wine calls for it — an incomplete malolactic fermentation, for instance. On pouring, a delicate reductive note; then, with air, the aromas open little by little. That initial reduction is part of its refinement.

Appellation Bourgogne Contrôlée · 2024 · 75 cl · 12.5% vol. · 295 bouteilles sélectionnées
